TLL President Message - COVID-19

TLL President Message-COVID Safety Reminders
July 20, 2020

Greetings Players, Coaches and Parents,

Now that we have completed our first fall ball weekend, I would like to outline some of our COVID-19 policies and general safety guidelines.  These policies ensure that we remain in compliance with the State of Connecticut, Town of Trumbull and Little League International.  Please review the key messages outlined below:

Face masks/Coverings
1. Athletes must wear a mask/face covering when entering and exiting the field and the park.  Face masks must be worn while in the dugout area.   While engaged in the active play of sports or strenuous activities, athletes do not need to wear a face covering. *In other words, no masks when on the field.

2. Coaches must wear face coverings as players arrive, depart and when 6’ of distance cannot be maintained.  If a coach comes within 6ft of a player on the field of play,  a mask must be put on.  If this is a challenge, then the rule of thumb should be to just keep your mask on.  Coaches are to wear face masks when on the sideline (dugout area) at all times.

3. Team Safety Officers must wear face masks at all times.

4. Spectators (All Including children 2 years and older) must wear face masks at all times, if 6ft distance can not be maintained.  While not mandatory, wearing a mask is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for all spectators in attendance.

5. Officials (Board members, umpires, press box staff) must wear face masks at all times, if 6ft distance can not be maintained.  When officials are entering and exiting the park, they must wear a face covering.

Social Distancing:
All players, coaches, volunteers, spectators, and independent contractors should practice social distancing of six feet wherever possible from individuals not residing within their household, especially in common areas

Post game team huddles
There will be no team huddles after games.  All players, coaches, and parents must leave the field at the conclusion of the game.

Parking Lots
There is to be no congregating in the parking lot after leaving the field following the game.  Families should proceed out of the park (per Town of Trumbull)

Location of Spectators:
All games can be watched from beyond the outfield fence and adhere to the 6-foot social distancing guidelines.  Spectators are not to stand or set-up chairs to observe the game near the team sideline area.

Remember: Act responsibly.  Wear a mask.  Maintain social distancing.  Frequently wash your hands.  Cover your mouth and nose.  Cover coughs and sneezes.   Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

Thank you,
Greg
