TLL President Message-COVID Safety Reminders for 2021


Greetings TLL Families,
 
 
Here are the UPDATED COVID-19 policies and general safety guidelines in place for the 2021 season.  These policies ensure that we remain in compliance with the State of Connecticut, Town of Trumbull and Little League International.  These policies and procedures will continue to be updated as receive updates from the state and the town.

Please review the key messages outlined below: 


Face masks/Coverings

Athletes - LL Athletes are encouraged to wear face coverings when not engaged in active play. While engaged in the active play of sports or strenuous activities, athletes do not need to wear a face covering. In other words, no masks when on the field, suggested to wear mask off the field, MUST wear mask in the DUGOUT and before and after the game when entering or leaving the athletic complex

2. Coaches - Coaches are to wear face coverings when in the dugout, when unable to maintain appropriate social distancing, and entering and exiting the athletic complex. Coaches do not need to wear face coverings when on the field of play, but should have the face covering available if 6ft can not be maintained.

3. Spectators (All Including children 2 years and older) encouraged to wear a face covering when unable to maintain appropriate distancing

4. Officials (Board members, umpires, press box staff) are encouraged to wear a face covering when unable to maintain appropriate distancing,  All officials will wear face coverings when indoors.

Dugouts and Bleachers - Will be open for 2021.  

Spectators can be positioned either in the bleachers or beyond the outfield fence.  There are to be no spectators past the 1st or 3rd base dugouts, thus no spectators behind the home plate area. 

Concession stands  - Will be open for 2021

Bathrooms The Town of Trumbull has decided to keep park restroom facilities closed for the duration of the 2021 season. TLL has provided portable toilets at Unity Park.will remain closed under the directive from the Town of Trumbull . 
Game Play:
1. Handshakes/Personal contact celebrations - Sportsmanship will continue in a touch-less manner 
2.  There will be no use of shared or team beverages, snacks, or food. 
3. Athletes, managers/coaches, and umpires are expected to bring their own personal drinks to all team activities. Drinks should be labeled with the person’s name.
4.  No Spitting, Sunflower seeds, Gum
5. Athletes are not to share equipment (e.g., batting helmets, bats, etc.) to the most extent possible. If shared, clean and disinfect frequently.
6. New game balls will be delivered in fresh packaging at the start of each game.
7. Umpires will be positioned behind the pitcher at an appropriate distance.

Pre-game and Post game team huddles: -  will resume, but coaches should keep players socially distanced and wear face coverings. 

Social Distancing:
All players, coaches, volunteers, spectators, and independent contractors should practice social distancing of six feet wherever possible from individuals not residing within their household, especially in common areas

Remember: Act responsibly.  Wear a mask.  Maintain social distancing.  Frequently wash your hands.  Cover your mouth and nose.  Cover coughs and sneezes.   Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
